Jr./Int./Sr. Project Manager

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Lead projects and direct efforts of assigned engineering and project services resources; oversees all aspects of project delivery (initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and control, and closeout).
  • Proactively manage stakeholder expectations by addressing project needs and concerns.
  • Responsible for project outcomes (cost, schedule, and budget) through to project completion.
  • Operates with a degree of flexibility subject to meeting minimum requirements as specified within the Project Management Manual and Client standards.
  • May be supported by a Project Engineer / Coordinator and Project Controls; where individuals are not assigned to these roles on a project, the PM assumes accountability.
  • Works with Discipline Department Heads to assemble project team; while Project Manager may provide recommendations on project staffing decisions, Department Head retains final decision and administrative authority over assigned project personnel.
  • Manages work in accordance with provisions of Client contract.
  • Manages turn-over of deliverables and project closeout activities.
  • Ensure comprehensive environmental and safety standards are in place and followed during the project.
  • Coordinates the resolution of technical and project issues.
  • Completes timely approval of monthly invoices and supports Accounting in expediting payments and client approvals when necessary.
  • Develop project-specific strategy to manage the development and implementation of projects to ensure completion on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality and safety requirements.
  • Overall accountability for project schedule, project resource plans and Capital Cost Estimates.
  • Where change is required, initiate Project Change Notices, Trends, Key Decision Records or Engineering Work Requests (or approved client equivalents) and initiate Management of Change.
  • Collect Client feedback via the Client Feedback Form and coordinate Lessons Learned sessions per Company requirements.
  • Provide feedback to discipline leads / department heads on potential quality issues.
Qualifications - Education, Skills and Experience:
Junior
  • 0-4 years

Intermediate
  • 5-10 years’ progressive experience; fully qualified professional and independent decisions.
  • Minimum four (4) year Degree in Engineering from an accredited university or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • PMI Designation.
  • General to mature engineering knowledge.
  • Provides guidance and mentorship to lesser experienced Project Managers and Project Engineers.

Senior
  • 10+ years’ progressive experience; 5+ years’ Canadian experience.
  • Minimum four (4) year Degree in Engineering from an accredited university or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • PMI Designation.
  • Mature knowledge of work; responsible, independent decisions not typically subject to review.
  • Makes decisions and recommendations on highly sensitive or complex issues without formal guidelines or precedents; exercises resourcefulness and ingenuity to interpret policy.
  • Uses judgment to interpret policy and draws upon past practice, industry knowledge and ingenuity to come up with a solution where there is more than one approach available.
  • Seen as the expert with high technical knowledge and experience.
  • Soft skills – such as communication, multi tasking, shifting priorities, meeting deadlines, leading, managing, coaching, organizing, customer services, teamwork, collaboration, etc.
